(EMU) – St. Kitts, January 5, 2018: In an effort to keep fluid the lines of communication between the Administration and the schools’ administrative teams, the Ministry of Education continued its series of roundtable discussions on Thursday 4th January, 2018. The discussion was held at the Bird Rock Beach Hotel Conference Room and hosted Deputy Principals from the various Primary Schools, Education Officers and Administrators within the Ministry of Education. The Deputy Principals voiced their concerns on educational school related issues and ways in which the Administration could support the schools’ needs as well as to work collaboratively to support the needs of the students. Minister of Education, Hon. Shawn K. Richards, took the opportunity to thank the Educators present for their hard work during the past school term, and said he looked forward to a mutually rewarding and favourable second term. The dialogue was informal interactive with Minister Richards.
Some of the topics discussed included the managing of budgets; principal training; and principals’ ability to speak openly without fear of reprimand by the administration.
The discussion was the final instalment in the series following the first term and eased the transition for the management teams into the upcoming term which starts on Monday 8th January, 2018.
According to Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education Mr. William Hodge all things are in gear for teachers and students of Government schools in the Federation to return for the second term of the school year.
Mr Hodge said this being the sports term as well the Ministry intends to ensure that students maximize the learning opportunities even as they participate in the sporting events.
