EMU) – St. Kitts, July 11, 2017: ‘Education for all, embracing change, securing the future’ the overall theme for the Ministry of Education is now guiding activities for the 2017 Ministry of Education Pre-Service Training, in which hopeful teachers, are gleaning necessary skills and strategies for successful teaching.
“Education is a very dynamic and critical area of service in every nation and in this time of our nation’s development, education is more relevant than ever for the stemming of social ills and the creation of the type of citizens that our country needs to sustain it for future generations,” stated Minister of Education, Hon. Shawn K. Richards, as he addressed the 2017 pre-service training cohort. Designed to give the participants a realistic view of what the job entails the pre-service training is a highly anticipated annual course.
In the past the Ministry has selected skilled and consistent teachers, based on their capabilities they exhibit during the training.
“This pre-service training course provides (you) a richer description of working in the Civil Service as a teacher; giving you information of possible work context, the duties and expectations,” Minister Richards advised. Some of the topics include, Child Friendly Schools, Integrating Technology, Classroom Management, Teachers Rights and Responsibilities as well as School Records.
The training is being held at the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College, Burdon Street Campus, from 10th – 20th July. A literacy and numeracy test would be given on 21st July and interviews will be conducted on the 24th & 25th July, the Ministry will select the preferred candidates and inform them accordingly.
